No. 10 Ranch sits on a sprawling 40 acres just outside of Albuquerque. There, Alicia Carter owns a collection of unique cabins where guests can unplug and unwind. The use of Helix mattresses and Standard Textile linens throughout the cabins is an intentional choice; it allows for the stay to feel historic, while simultaneously providing guests with luxury.

How many years have you been in the short term rental industry and how did you get started?

Three years. I got started on accident! I was designing AirBnBs and got an opportunity to host and fell in love! The rest is history…

What do you find most rewarding about your career?

The guests. Hearing that they were able to rest, relax, unplug and feel at HOME in my spaces. I live for that! I every guest to leave feeling better than they did when they arrived. That’s always my goal.

What is your favorite rental property you have and why do you love it?

Our first completed cabin. I’ve designed and hosted 20 spaces and this one is by FAR my favorite. There are 6 other cabins on our ranch. Please don’t ask me to pick a favorite from the seven cabins 😂 We’re in the process of renovating all seven and they’ll ALL be my favorite when they’re done!

What’s the craziest story you have from hosting?

I’ll never EVER forget the time my cleaning team sent me the craziest photos! The beds and futon in my space had all been moved to one room by the guests that had checked out. The only way they could have done it was to take the beds apart and put them back together in one room! It was wild! We had to take them back apart and put them back into the other rooms. I’ve never been so shocked and I hope that’s forever the craziest thing I will ever see, because I don’t want to see something crazier!

What’s one “pro-tip” you’d be willing to pass on to the community?

Always ALWAYS walk through a space after the cleaning team and before your guest arrives. If you don’t do it, hire someone you’d trust with your firstborn to do it for you. It’s that important.

What’s the most recent item that you can remember that you’ve ordered from HostGPO?

I just ordered like 200 pillow cases from Standard Textile and another twin sized mattress from Helix last week! So exciting!

What would you tell others about whether to join HostGPO?

Do it. Seriously one of the BEST decisions I’ve made in my hosting business. I wish I’d done it sooner. It’s an upgrade and adds simplicity my business desperately needed!
