Janna from Fisherville Hotel and Tavern

Our member, Janna, owner of the historic Fisherville Hotel and Tavern located in the small getaway town of Fisherville, close to beautiful Lake Erie in Ontario recently did our member spotlight interview and sent in some pictures of some rugs she purchased through our RugsUSA discount program that beautifully tie her rooms together. We trust our interview with her will interest our readers and hopefully give our members some good decorating ideas for their own vacation rentals!

How many years have you been in the short term rental industry?

4 years.

What do you find most rewarding about your career?

The joy of meeting and welcoming guests to our unique property.

What is your favorite rental property you have and why do you love it?

Our newly renovated unit. We are so proud of how it turned out! We have incorporated a lot of historic elements into renos and décor. For example, we found original fireplace stacks from the 1850’s in between the windows and repurposed the brick for the fireplace:

We also turned old staircase bannisters into king size headboard!

What’s the craziest story you have from hosting?

One of our units didn’t have a stovetop (we added a portable induction unit since). Our guest didn’t realize that and brought burgers to cook for his family. We ended up inviting him to cook burgers downstairs in our restaurant’s commercial kitchen. We had a blast bonding over burgers with our guest!

What’s one “pro-tip” you’d be willing to pass on to the community?

It’s all in the details! Pay attention to details in décor and amenities. Guests love it!
