Meet Madeleine Raiford-Holland, founder of MHM Luxury Properties. Having grown from one property to seven over the course of just 2 years, Madeleine is no stranger to scaling. How many years have you been in the short-term rental industry and how did you get started?
2 years. We started with one property to see how we liked it and just opened our seventh.
What do you find most rewarding about your career?
We love hosting guests and getting to know them. Whether it's a family on vacation or a new couple staying while they meet their newly adopted baby for the first time, it's always rewarding for our spaces to be a small piece of their journey and home away from home.
What is your favorite rental property you have and why do you love it?
I love all of our properties but our cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains is my favorite. It was designed by Prairie School Craft and is extremely cozy! The porches, mountain views, and fireplaces are the BEST!
What's the craziest story you have from hosting?
I don't have a ton of crazy stories, but one of my favorites was mentioned earlier when the couple traveled to stay at one of our Athens, GA homes to meet their new baby that they were adopting. They stayed for two weeks and told us that our home will always have a special place in their heart because that is where they spent their first weeks with their baby.
What's one "pro-tip" you'd be willing to pass on to the community?
Automate as much as possible and get things running on autopilot to scale. I have a course that teaches you how to streamline all of your STR processes ;-)
What's the most recent item that you can remember that you've ordered from HostGPO?
I have ordered so much recently, but I love this couch that we ordered that's in our Mountain House!
What would you tell others about whether to join HostGPO?
