HostGPO member Amina has been a host for years, but recently she has recently ventured into the world of startups, creating Radious which is six months old. Amina recently did our member spotlight interview and gave us insight into what she loves about hosting and why Radious is the next big thing for people who are working from home and need a change in scenery. We trust our interview with her will interest our readers and hopefully give our members some good ideas for their office/work from home spots in their STR’s!

What is Radious?

Radious is a new short-term rental platform specifically for listing home office spaces. It is a great way for hosts to earn supplemental income if they have a great workspace to rent out, while providing working professionals a quiet, productive escape from their work from home (WFH) situations.

How did the idea for Radious come about?

Not really a crazy story, but during the pandemic my partner and I stopped hosting due to safety concerns. Since we were losing that revenue, we needed to get creative. So we thought, why not turn that space into a great office environment and rent it to our neighbors who need to escape their chaotic WFH situations? And just like that, a new STR platform was born: Radious!

What are some tips/advice you have on setting up a work from home space?

It is important to take a moment and put yourself in the shoes of someone working in your space. Ask yourself, is it comfortable for an 8-10 hour workday? Is it ergonomic? Is there a reliable WiFi connection? Most importantly, does the environment inspire creativity and calm? Working professionals are looking for “Instagramable” experiences just as much as they’re looking for productivity and peace.

What’s one “pro-tip” you’d be willing to pass on to the community?

Do not put all your eggs in one basket and limit yourself to one platform. If you diversify, not only do you de-risk your business, but you can supplement your income on the days you’re not booked on one platform with the other.

How will Radious benefit our members?

In the last year, many short term rental hosts have started to rethink the way they operate. Washing a stranger’s sheets during a pandemic feels risky. The wear and tear of overnight rentals is a concern, the fear of property damage and irresponsible guests is top of mind. Radious helps address all that, since rentals are by the day and the folks doing the booking are working professionals — arguably more responsible and trustworthy than a, “random traveler looking to crash at your place.” We’re excited to give hosts a way to diversify and supplement their income, while giving them a little extra peace of mind.

What do you find most rewarding about your career?

Knowing that we’re helping working professionals feel more empowered and fulfilled in their roles, while providing STR hosts additional ways to earn income and support their goals.
