How many years have you been in the short-term rental industry and how did you get started?
Just started, this is our first property, launched in Mid May. It’s been a dream for many years. I love fixing up properties, which is what we have always done with our primary residences, however we wanted to share the spaces we created.
What do you find most rewarding about your career?
Transforming spaces and sharing that energy or feeling a well curated space can give you. When someone walks in to your property and says Wow, or says how much fun their family is having in the space, it just doesn’t get better than that. It’s a connection of sorts, and I think we all want more of that.
What is your favorite rental property you have and why do you love it?
As there is only one, Casa Blanca, it’s an obvious answer, however I think this property will always have a special place to me. I surprised myself how much it transformed.
What’s the craziest story you have from hosting?
Our first guests flipped off the Nest doorbell camera as I was eagerly waiting to hear their reaction to walking in for the first time. It was a sobering moment, and a real introduction into hosting. You cannot control all the aspects of how people will react to your space.
What’s one “pro-tip” you’d be willing to pass on to the community?
Paint. Never underestimate the power of paint. Don’t be afraid of color. People are coming to your property to escape, let them.
What’s the most recent item that you can remember that you’ve ordered from HostGPO?
I’m ordering it today, two mugs that mysteriously disappeared. Crate and Barrel, they keep the same lines of dish ware in stock for years.
What would you tell others about whether to join HostGPO?
I would absolutely not have been able to pull this property together for the same price or ease if not for HostGPO. A necessity in the ever growing and competitive space of STR’s.
