How many years have you been in the short-term rental industry and how did you get started?
I have been in the industry for 3 years. I started a staging company in 2019, then pivoted to short-term rental furnishing and set up (post covid). I live in a tourist town, with a booming short-term rental market. My services are best suited for busy investors or out-of-state investors who don’t have the time or knowledge to properly design and furnish their short-term rental.
What do you find most rewarding about your career?
I love the creativity involved! I also pride myself on being professional and responsible with my client’s investment. I take the job very seriously and communicate with my clients along the way to provide project updates and reports. I love seeing a blank canvas (an empty rental) come to life with furnishings and decor. There is so much time that goes into planning and ordering while allocating the budget properly, all while staying on track with the timeline. When it comes to launch time, it’s so fun to put everything in its place and see the vision come together!
What is your favorite rental property you have and why do you love it?
My favorite rental property is a 7-bedroom new construction lodge I completed this July.
What’s the craziest story you have from hosting?
For my own property, I have learned to label everything!! Even how to use the shower head. People call for the craziest questions on how to work stuff, or claim things are broken when they just don’t know how to use them! So I began to label everything!
What’s one “pro-tip” you’d be willing to pass on to the community?
When furnishing your nightly rental, mix the “highs” and “lows” to create a comfortable quality property without overspending. Spend more money on some items, like couches, patio furniture, dining tables, and mattresses, and then you can mix in more bargain items like side tables, bed frames, lamps, and accessories.
