14 years!
What do you find most rewarding about your career?
As a Host, getting amazing reviews from our guests is the best. As a designer, seeing how we constantly get bookings and guests commenting on how beautiful the homes are.
What is your favorite rental property you have and why do you love it?
We call it Celebration At Barrier Cove because our clients allowed us to be creative and trusted us that we were able to deliver a beautiful home they could come and relax in while on vacations.
What’s the craziest story you have from hosting?
Oh my! We had a guest who claimed he was a tornado hunter. We accommodated him at one of our 6-bedroom short-term rentals. We asked him to sign a lease which he did. There was a hurricane going through Orlando, FL So we were unable to greet him in person. When we asked for payment his cc did not go through. He slept two nights and still no payment. We couldn’t leave our property. Long story short we came by as soon as we were safely able to meet him at the property he had left! He did pay us after multiple attempts to reach him and we had to call his boss! It was crazy.
What’s one “pro-tip” you’d be willing to pass on to the community?
No matter how well we act, how pretty or clean the short-term rental property could be just know there could be that one person who will complain about anything they can find. So keep calm and ALWAYS make sure to document every conversation you have with this guest to make sure you can protect yourself from guests wanting refunds over nothing.
What’s the most recent item that you can remember that you’ve ordered from HostGPO?
Oh, there’s so many! I love HostGPO. As a designer and host, we get all of our Pottery Barn furniture and decorative items. We also source West Elm, PB kids, and Crate & Barrel. I recently bought a bed, 2 sofas, and planters for my client’s home.
What would you tell others about whether to join HostGPO?
You should definitely join HostGPO. As a designer and host. You will save so much money. Customer service is amazing and they have so many vendors you can choose from!
