In this blog interview, we have the pleasure of chatting with Colt Moss, a passionate investor and builder who recently ventured into the short-term rental industry with Kasa BnB. With a three-year-old son to keep him happy and busy, Colt still devotes a significant amount of time to researching various topics that interest him. Let’s dive in and learn more from Colt Moss!
How many years have you been in the short-term rental industry and how did you get started?
I got my start in the short-term rental (STR) industry about a year ago. As someone who enjoys investing in things that interest me, whether it be a business, a person, or any other captivating topic, I was naturally drawn to the industry. To ensure I was well-prepared for the challenges ahead, I spent a significant amount of time researching various aspects of STR.
What do you find most rewarding about your career?
The good guest, good reviews, and those alerts for new bookings
What is your favorite rental property you have and why do you love it?
Our studio was built from scratch with careful thought put into every detail, resulting in glowing reviews from clients and visitors. The space is designed to inspire creativity and foster productivity, and we regularly update and upgrade our facilities to meet evolving needs.
What’s the craziest story you have from hosting?
Oh, it has to be the guy who brought two very large dogs unannounced to a 200sqft studio and then denied bringing them. Luckily, Airbnb took my side after I sent them a photo from the parking spot camera.
What’s one “pro-tip” you’d be willing to pass on to the community?
The first try of anything usually sucks and needs some fixing.
What’s the most recent item that you can remember that you’ve ordered from HostGPO?
Probably soap, but that’s boring! So let’s go with the 11 helix mattresses.
What would you tell others about whether to join HostGPO?
I bet you won’t do it! (wink wink).
